Landscaping at an altitude of 9,000 feet is different than almost anywhere else. Not only is the growing season shorter, but the temperatures within that season are more varied and extreme. Also, because we’re in the Rocky Mountains, soil conditions vary considerably, in some cases changing radically from one mile to the next. In addition, trees, shrubs and perennials all grow differently here as some are more sensitive to our climate than others. Of course, water is always a factor.
